ARTSA meeting - 29th August from 8.30am - NOTE VENUE CHANGE - it is now Victorian Transport Association, Wirraway Drive Fishermans Bend

ARTSA's next quarterly meeting HAS BEEN MOVED from ARRB to the Victorian Transport Association, Wirraway Drive, Fishermans Bend. The meeting runs from 8.30am til 12 noon.

The agenda includes:

  • Brake Balance Code of Practice launch of project
  • ARTSA College reports on safety, braking, energy efficiency and trailers
  • Engine management issues
  • Queensland combination testing
  • ARRB presentation on latest heavy vehicle research
  • PBS: what are the latest plans?

    ARTSA's brake balance code of practice is now underway. Hear how this will be delivered and be a part of the development. A number of other speakers will also cover the above topics.

  • ARTSA Energy Efficiency College - launch meeting: Tuesday 3rd June, 9.30am at Isuzu, Port Melbourne

    ARTSA's Energy Efficiency College launch meeting is being held on:
  • Tuesday 3rd June from 9.30am til 11am
  • Venue: Isuzu, 858 Lorimer St, Port Melbourne

    Energy, carbon and environment are now buzz words and exciting interest at the highest levels. The ARTSA Energy Efficiency College will focus on engine technologies, transmissions, energy losses, regenerative systems, alternative fuels, emissions issues, aerodynamics, fuel efficiency techniques and driver training.

    The launch meeting will review the current initiatives in Australia and the US and discuss priorities for the ARTSA Energy Efficiency College

  • ARTSA at the International Trailer and Truck Show

    ARTSA meeting on Wednesday 7th May from 2pm - 4.30pm in the upstairs meeting rooms in the RAS Pavilion, off Langs Road opposite gate 5

    The meeting will include a brief update on ARTSA Colleges, particularly the progress in braking and will have two special guests:

  • Bob Fast, head of the GE trailer pool for Europe
  • Les Bruzsa, Queensland Transport's senior engineer

    Each will discuss latest trailer initiatives It is the last set up day and traditionally we have run a very successful meeting in Brisbane at this time. To attend, email me at exec@artsa.com.au

    Trailer and Truck Conference - Thursday and Friday 8th and 9th May in the Exhibition Hall

    ARTSA, along with TIC, CVIAV and VTA are co-hosting this conference - see http://www.trailertruckshow.com.au/conference/

    I know that most of you are involved in the show and have a strong stand commitment, however there is a half day transferable pass available for $200 that gives you access to a morning or afternoon session including lunch or drinks at the end of the afternoon session. You can use it as you please and can offer it to customers if you wish.

  • Brake college - next meeting, Wednesday 16th April from 2 - 5pm at VTA, Melbourne

    This Brake college meeting agenda will cover:

  • Load proportioning and ADR revisions
  • Mandating ABS - recent moves
  • Brake balance code of practice
  • ABS intermix issues
  • Auto slack adjuster mandating
  • Retarder issues
  • Roller brake testing

  • ARTSA College Meetings - Wednesday 19th March at the VTA in Melbourne

    ARTSA has launched its four Colleges or focus groups that are targetting:
  • Safety, compliance and productivity
  • Braking and stability
  • Trailer and running gear
  • Energy Efficiency

    The College meeting agenda for Wednesday 19th March is:

  • 8.30am Safety, compliance and productivity
  • 10.30am Braking and stability
  • 1.00pm Trailer and running gear
  • 3.00pm Energy Efficiency

    Each meeting runs for 90 minutes and will focus on the current state of affairs in the respective topic areas as well as the regulatory issues and possible improvements

  • ARTSA to release College proposal at meeting on 22nd February

    The ARTSA Executive has released a proposal to revamp ARTSA around a College model where members can affiliate with up to four different Colleges or technical focus areas. These include:
  • Safety, compliance and productivity
  • Braking and stability
  • Energy efficiency
  • Trailer and running gear

    The ARTSA College proposal will be discussed as part of the next Meeting agenda on Friday 22nd February from 8.30am at DECA Training, 29 - 45 Millers Road in Altona North

  • The road freight sector and its challenges - the view from an operator, an academic and a reformer: ARTSA's February meeting

    ARTSA's next meeting is:

    The final ARTSA meeting for 2007 will be held at DECA, 29 - 45 Millers Road, Altona from 8.30am til noon on Friday 30th November. This will be followed by the ARTSA Christmas Lunch which is held at Sirens Restaurant, the Esplanade, Williamstown from 12.30pm.

    • VicRoads compliance and enforcement activities: who's who in VicRoads
    • B Triples and PBS: when and where
    • Braking agenda: will it deliver?
    • ADR's and AVSR's: round table discussion of their future

    Best TMC ever - thanks to presenters, exhibitors, sponsors and the delegates

    The Technical and Maintenance Conference held from the 11th to the 13th November was the best ever according to Ian Bushby, Chairman of ARTSA. "We had the best audience engagement and a really strong exchange of ideas and information" said Ian. "We also picked up many good ideas to further improve what is Australia's leading technical conference in the road transport area" he said.

    Papers for the ARTSA sessions will be posted to the ARTSA Library in the next few days and a review of the sessions will be conducted during our final meeting for 2007 on the 30th November at DECA.
